The Township of South Stormont is aware that the drought conditions of 2025 may have impacted some residents and farm owners on private well systems. In order to further understand the impacts, the Township and local conservation authorities are attempting to collect meaningful data to help in determining any possible solutions that could assist those in our community that have been affected.

We ask that residents impacted by low or dry private well systems complete the short survey below. This information will help our teams better understand the regions and well-types that have been impacted, as well as any steps taken to relieve those impacts. Any identifiable information received will not be shared publicly, and will be used exclusively by the Township of South Stormont and local conservation authorities.

Showers and Personal Water Filling Available at the Long Sault Arena

In an effort to assist residents affected by low or dry wells, the Township is allowing residents to book available shower times at the Long Sault Arena.

Due to conflicting rental groups and skating schedules, drop-ins for shower cannot be accommodated, and residents must schedule a shower time with Rox-Anne Hendrie, Recreation and Facilities Administrative Assistant. Rox-Anne can be contacted by e-mail at rox-anne@southstormont.ca or by telephone at 613-534-8889 ext. 262 during business hours of Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

The following guidelines are in place for booking shower times:

  • Shower services are unfortunately not available on weekends due to committed rentals groups
  • Showers available Monday - Friday, ideally in the mornings beginning at 8:30 a.m.
  • Monday evenings between 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
  • Shower times MUST be booked in advanced by contacting Rox-Anne Hendrie during business hours (contact information above)
  • Residents must bring their own towels and toiletries

The Long Sault Arena also has multiple water bottle filling stations that are available to replenish personal sized containers at any time during operational hours. The facility is not equipped to fill large totes.

Bulk Water Available for Purchase at City of Cornwall Facility

The City of Cornwall has confirmed that South Stormont residents and businesses can use their bulk water filling station located at 861 Second Street West for large totes.

Residents need to purchase a dispensing station card for $15.00 and then preload the card with a dollar amount of their choice. The cost is $6.00 per cubic meter. This is done at City Hall located at 360 Pitt Street, Cornwall, Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm.

Users then go to the self-serving bulk water filling station located at 861 Second Street West. They tap their card on the machine and input the pin that is provided to them at City Hall. This is open 24/7. This filling station is primarily used for commercial purposes, so it is important to note that users need to bring their own hose that connects to a 3” male camlock. Here is an example of the type of hose needed: BENCHMARK 3" 50' Discharge Hose Kit with Quick Connect Couplers | Home Hardware

Any questions about the process can be directed to the City of Cornwall at 613-930-2787 ext. 2317.
